» Prisoner's Lit Project
Prisoners Literature Project is a grassroots organization that sends free books to prisoners in the United States. Volunteers will have a chance to read letters from prisoners and to select and package books accordingly.

» Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County
Help this nonprofit organization which provides free hot meals, clothing, access to health care and education and job training services to homeless and economically disadvantaged people by sorting books and donations and cleaning and assembling furniture for their thrift stores.

» Aquatic Park EGRET
Help spread wood chips around native plantings along the shoreline of San Francisco Bay. Other volunteers can try a hand in urban archeology, excavating historic masonry terraces from the park's construction in the 1930's.

Participate in Halcyons Commons' annual planting and mulching day (rescheduled JUST for the Berkeley Project)! Also help them remove graffiti.

» HEROES (Helpers Engaged in Reaching Oakland's Excelling Schools)
HEROES seeks to enrich the lives of Oakland's public school children by bringing the time and talents of concerned people into the schools. Be a concerned person by painting planter boxes, planting flowers, and pulling weeds.

Beautify this Oakland school by planting and weeding the school garden and building wooden benches.
